  • I seem to take the same issue.

Outlook worked fine, I reinstalled windows. And now I can't gear up up that one business relationship ( 365 Role Account ).

    I tried disabling IPV6 :

    1. Disabled past downloading the disable IPV6 link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/aid/929852/how-to-disable-ipv6-or-its-components-in-windows

ii. Tried outlook setup, no luck.

    iii. Rebooted.

    4. Tried again to set up outlook, no luck.
I think when I originally got it to work I was running Windows Ceremony update prior to setting upwards Outlook and updated to creators afterwards.

I'm running the creators 1703 version of Win10 and tin can't get information technology to work.

I've also tried the steps above is outlook safe manner.

I successfuly gear up up the email on this same PC ( before reinstalling the OS ) and on some other PC which is also running Win 10.

  • Disabling IPV6 did not work for me, but I take institute the resolution. Under the Account Settings sub-menu, select 'Manage Profiles' instead of 'Account Settings'. Yous then get a Mail Setup window which is of the format of the earlier versions of Outlook. Just select 'E-Postal service Accounts' and you can fix a new account just like you used to in earlier versions of Outlook. It worked for me 1st time. Hope this helps...I spent several hours searching forums and trying different things earlier I found this.

  • MY problem is that I had an office 365 account ready, the admins have done a migration and thanks to microsoft'south robust design, i had to delete and attempt re-setup my account again. Upon setting upward my business relationship I get the aforementioned error.

All not essential protocals accept already been disabled. I suspect DNS problems or firewalling or peradventure something as sinister as all that.

Some other win for Microsoft hither.

  • I have been struggling with this same event for many weeks and I found my solution.

Symptom:  Can't setup outlook 2016 to get my office365 email.  I get the "something went wrong bulletin."  This problem occurred on several computers with role 2016 on dissimilar networks and operating systems.  However, office365 works fine from webmail, iPhone, android, and previous versions of outlook.  So WTF!

I discovered that outlook 2016 is quite grumpy then you must follow NEW protocol.

    1. Uninstall all older versions of office and reboot.

    2. In Control Panel, Post (Outlook 2016), delete all profiles and close information technology.

    3. Don't use the Post(Outlook 2016) in control console to setup the new account, it volition not work.

four. Yous must use the Outlook setup wizard that volition start when y'all open outlook for the first fourth dimension with no profiles. Insert electronic mail address and password.

    5. That'south it.

Annotation:  Having worked with Substitution and outlook for a very long time I find that this change was not intuitive and does not comply with standard processes maintained by Microsoft for a decade.  You lot should be able to use the Mail control console tool to set this upwards every bit we have ever done.  I find that this is definitely a problems in Outlook 2016.  I hope this helps others that were merely a frustrated as me.

  • Further to this, I have solved my issue by remove all outlook credentials in windows credential director. Due to migration, the account is the same and windows in all it's wisdom keeps trying to connect to the new account with the old account credentials. The business relationship ID is different with the new account (machine generated?)

Later on deleting all credentials, I was able to add the account within seconds.

  • My resolution was simpler but far from obvious...

When it offers y'all the selection to "Modify Business relationship Type" (if I recollect correctly), click "Google" instead of 365. This takes you to a dialog box where you tin manually configure servers, ports, etc. Just have the defaults then enter your Function 365 password when prompted. That got my Role 365 account upwardly and running in Outlook.

  • The "Stealth Google Mail" Setup worked for my situation, every bit well.

It's a pretty straightforward approach - simply take the default configuration options (as they already reflect appropriate Role 365 Server and Port settings) and insert your countersign when prompted.  I can speculate as to WHY this works, but all that matters - I didn't accept to overhaul my Windows 10 to discover out it'due south an Outlook 2016 effect.  Microsoft - please fine tune the setup of 365 Exchange services with the preferred/recommended Microsoft Mail Customer.

  • If you are having problems with Outlook taking your countersign AND also getting an error if you effort to open up the Credential Manager like we did, you should try this:  http://world wide web.mkblog.co.uk/credential-director-mistake-0x80090345/

"Locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Protect\Providers\df9d8cd0-1501-11d1-8c7a-00c04fc297eb, created a new registry DWORD value, named ProtectionPolicy, and give information technology a value 1. "

As before long as we added the registry primal and rebooted, Outlook and the Credential Managing director functioned correctly.

  • I had this problem and also could non set up up a PPTP VPN connexion. Started looking into the VPN connection error ( The computer must be trusted for delegation and the current user business relationship must exist configured to allow delegation. ) and ran across this. Practical it and it fixed the VPN issue and just for kicks tried the Outlook set upwardly again and it went through immediately.

"To work around this trouble, fix the value of the ProtectionPolicy registry entry to 1 to enable local backup of the MasterKey instead of requiring a RWDC in the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Protect\Providers\df9d8cd0-1501-11d1-8c7a-00c04fc297eb

i.e. Correct Click, create new Dword (32bit) Value, name it 'ProtectionPolicy' then edit it to the value of 1. Solves the issue immediately, non restart required.

We have an Advert Domain but employ Office 365 Instruction for email etc. Its nice to use Outlook for offline work but this is so frustrating. None of the Function 2016 setups desire to connect to their Office 365 email. Keeps saying "an encrypted connection to your mail server is not available". I've spent hours looking for a solution. • Hi Everyone,

None of these suggested fixes actually fixed my problem.

The problem was credential related but not the control panel credential managing director.

It was in the Windows x, 'Change Account Settings" department under "Access Work or School"

When you add together a new Function 365 business relationship every bit part of the newer Outlook 2016 Account Wizard information technology asks if y'all want to add this account to the figurer or something to that effect. Along with calculation the credentials to control panel Credential Manager it too adds the account to the "Admission Work or Schoolhouse" department as mentioned.Removing the account from at that place and trying to add the account to Outlook is what stock-still the upshot for me!

Hope that helps someone else. I spent hours on this uninstalling Function, setting registry keys, etc.

For me the deviation between a new profile and and so-called "corrupted profile" is ever a simple registry setting or deleting an app specific setting. All the same sometimes it is just easier and quicker to starting time a fresh contour.

    Best of luck to everyone.

    2. Go to control Console

    3. open Mail service (Microsoft Outlook 2016)

    v. create a new business relationship. I promise this will work.

    2) get to account setting past clicking "file"

three) click on account setting and go to mange profile- a new dialogue box will open.

    4) Click on click accounts- business relationship setting dialogue box will open up.

    5) Click on new - old email configuration dialogue box will open up.

Now easily configure your any email----- cheer up.

  • In our case the issue started when nosotros turned on spider web hosting using cPanel.  By default the cPanel awarding redirects the autodiscover request from Outlook and points it to your website domain rather than to the Office 365 autodiscover.  The set is simple log into your cPanel direction console and go to MX Settings.  Alter the setting from
"Local Mail Exchanger" to "Remote Mail Exchanger" click on the "Modify" push button and you should be good to go.

To examination to run across if this is your effect yous can download the  "Fix Outlook and Office 365 problems with Microsoft Back up and Recovery Assistant for Role 365" tool and run it.

    https://diagnostics.office.com/#/Download?env=OfficePortal

If you have this issue it will indicate that your Autodiscover is getting bad information.  Look at the URL and information technology's probably pointed to your https://domain.com rather than autodiscover.outlook.com

  • If the registry hacks for ExcludeHttpsAutoDiscoverDomain fix your problem, you probably accept the issue that @DanCreedican highlighted - your web hosting provider is answering autodiscover requests on https://mydomain.com:443/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml earlier the SRV record pointing to Microsoft can answer them. Outlook doesn't query the SRV autodiscover tape because the showtime attempts on https and http worked, simply returned bogus results, thereby telling y'all "Something went wrong". The SRV record is technically a fallback autodiscover method, and isn't used unless http and https requests neglect. The registry hacks eliminate these discovery methods from the sequence thereby forcing Outlook to jump to the SRV record. This is a valid workaround, but the proper solution is to fix you configuration at the web hosting provider.

Dan mentioned downloading a tool, but Microsoft now provides a slap-up online tool to diagnose autodiscover here:

    https://www.testconnectivity.microsoft.com

Yous tin read more than about the technical angle hither:

If y'all don't do something similar this, yous accept no pick but to connect via IMAP, and while IMAP will piece of work for electronic mail, you don't get the full functionality of Microsoft Exchange, similar contacts. For some reason, the newer O365 version of Outlook doesn't through the standard account sign-in that triggers the 2FA procedure. It's really abrasive that they haven't integrated 2FA more tightly.
