Unlike regular singles in skinny singles only half the court is in play. In this version diagonal courts are used. As in regular (full-court) singles the server's score dictates from which court the serve must be played. When the server has an even score the serve is put in play from the right (even) side serving diagonally to the receiver's even side. In this version of skinny singles the rally continues to be played on diagonal courts until a fault is committed and the ball declared dead. Likewise, when the server's score is odd the serve will be played from the odd (left) court and the receiver will receive the serve on the odd (left) court and the rally continues on the diagonal halves of the court until a fault is committed. The half-court continues through the no-volley zone and a line will separate the even and odd no-volley zone areas of the court. Unlike doubles, scoring in singles only has 2 numbers: the server's score and the receiver's score (me versus you). The server's score is always called first and the score must be called before each rally starts otherwise it's a fault committed by the server and results in a side out. |

2. No bags are allowed on courts.
3. 6 minutes from match announcement to start of match.
